The short answer, straight from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office: No. And it's worth understanding exactly what the law says before July 4, 2026 — especially with America's 250th birthday making this an extra-special celebration year.
What Pinellas County Law Says About Fireworks
Pinellas County has a county ordinance that bans the retail sale, purchase, and use of fireworks that project into the air and explode. This applies throughout unincorporated Pinellas County and in PCSO contract cities — which includes Indian Rocks Beach.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office:
"Pinellas County has an ordinance banning the retail sale, purchase, and use of fireworks that project into the air and explode. Sparklers are legal, but remember to only use them outside and as intended. It is also unsafe to mix alcohol and the use of fireworks. Additionally, firing guns into the air in celebration is unsafe and illegal. A bullet returning to the ground could cause serious injury or death."
What's legal: Sparklers — used outside and as intended.
What's banned: Any fireworks that project into the air and explode. This includes bottle rockets, aerial shells, Roman candles, mortars, and similar consumer fireworks.

The PCSO enforces this ordinance in unincorporated Pinellas County and in its contract cities, which include:
Belleair Beach · Belleair Bluffs · Belleair Shore · Dunedin · Indian Rocks Beach · Madeira Beach · North Redington Beach · Oldsmar · Redington Beach · St. Pete Beach · Safety Harbor · Seminole · South Pasadena

If you experience problems with illegal fireworks in Indian Rocks Beach or any of the PCSO contract cities, contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line: 727-582-6200.

The good news: you can still have a spectacular Fourth of July in Indian Rocks Beach — you just won't be the one lighting the fuses.
