Florida Golf Cart Law — Quick Summary
- •Golf carts may only operate on streets with a posted speed limit of 30 mph or less (unless a local ordinance permits otherwise).
- •Operators must be at least 14 years old. A valid driver's license is not required on designated golf cart streets.
- •Golf carts are not required to be registered with the state — but many municipalities require local registration.
- •Headlights, taillights, and turn signals are required for operation after dark.
- •Golf carts are NOT the same as Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs). LSVs require registration, insurance, and a driver's license.
- •Crossing a road with a speed limit over 45 mph is prohibited.
